Bowtell Bows History

When it comes to making bows, it is not simply a thing you do once and call it good. It is addictive to make your first bow, for after that first taste of creativity and feel of the bow in your hand sending arrows flying towards a target, it is hard to not to continue making them. I broke the first three real attempts at bows before I made my first three successful bows all at once. Now, 15 years later, I have continued to hone my ability and make better and better bows.

Creating wooden longbows is an art form that brings me closer to the eternal. Every time I see a piece of wood, I visualize the bow that it can become. I am in awe of the transformation that occurs when I remove shaving after shaving, turning a piece of wood into a living, breathing tool. As an artist, I find immense joy in the process of crafting each bow by hand, and the satisfaction that comes with knowing that it will be appreciated by those who use it.

To me, each bow is a unique expression of my creativity, and I take great pride in making each one better than the last. With every new bow, I am challenged to push myself to the limits of my ability, to learn from my mistakes and to refine my craft. I believe that this is the only way to unleash the full potential of each bow, to make it faster, more durable, and more accurate.

Through my art, I strive to create objects that are not only beautiful but also functional. I believe that a well-made longbow can be both a work of art and a valuable tool, capable of bringing joy to those who use it. I take great care in selecting the finest materials, and I pay close attention to every detail of the crafting process, from selecting the perfect wood to the final finishing touches.

My art is not just about creating longbows. It is about the process of creating, of connecting with something deeper and more meaningful than myself. As an artist, I feel a sense of purpose and fulfillment in knowing that I am creating something that can last for generations, something that will bring joy and wonder to those who use it.

In conclusion, my art is a lifelong pursuit of excellence, a quest to create objects of both beauty and function. Through my work, I hope to connect with the ages, to create something that is more than just a piece of wood, but a living, breathing extension of myself. Whether you are an experienced archer or a beginner, I invite you to experience the joy and wonder of using one of my handcrafted wooden longbows.
